Another Case of Not Practicing what You Preach by Allah in the Koran, the Case of the Golden Mean in the Koran
The First Example of Not Practicing what You Preach:
“An Utter Contradiction by Muhammad/Allah in the Koran:Telling Us to Act with Justice to those we Hate(Chapter 5:8) and then Cursing Jews and Christians “Till the Day of Resurrection”(Chapters 5:14,5:64)”
About the Golden Mean
The Golden Mean was stated by the philosopher Aristotle. But who was he?Going back we have that:
1.There was a Greek man called Socrates(469-399 BC) who was a philosopher in Athens famous for saying:
“All I know is that I do not know“.
“The unexamined life is not worth living.”
He was later killed for his opinions, becoming a martyr of philosophy.
2.Socrates had a disciple called Plato(424-348) who is one of the greatest philosophers who ever lived,He wrote many “Dialogues” where there are conversations between people and philosophy is explained. His masterpiece is “The Republic”,a dialogue where Socrates tells what the perfect society is.There women have the same rights and opportunities as men,and can become rulers. Thus Plato has been called the first feminist.
3.The greatest disciple of Plato was Aristotle( (384-322 BC),who was his student for 20 years.Aristotle thought that some people are naturally slaves, born to be slaves, and also that women are inferior to men.Aristotle was the creator of the science of logic. And he was the teacher of Alexander the Great( 356-323 BC),probably the world’s greatest military genius. He taught Alexander for 3 years,Alexander being 13 and till he was 16.
The Golden Mean according to Aristotle
It is stated in his book “Ethics”,also called “Nicomachean Ethics” where he:
1.Explains the origin, nature and development of virtues which are essential for achieving the ultimate goal, happiness, which must be desired for itself. The Golden Mean preaches moderation,it is anti-excess.
2.The golden mean represents a balance between extremes,an extreme is a vice. For example, courage is the middle between one extreme of deficiency (cowardness) and the other extreme of excess (recklessness). A coward would be a warrior who flees from the battlefield and a reckless warrior would charge at fifty enemy soldiers.
3.This doesn’t mean that the golden mean is the exact arithmetical middle between extremes, but that the middle depends on the situation. There is no universal middle that would apply to every situation.
The Golden Mean in the Koran( 6 Examples )
Several times in different books and articles I have read Muslims say that Islam is the religion of moderation, that it has the Golden mean, because of:
“Let not your hand be tied to your neck, nor open it altogether, lest you sit down blamed and regretful.”
“And those who when they spend are neither wasteful nor grudging,
and there is ever a firm station between the two(Note:a middle position,a Golden Mean).”
“Neither speak your prayer aloud, nor speak it in a low tone, but seek a middle course between.”
“And swell not your cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the earth; for Allah loves not the arrogant boaster. And be moderate in your pace, and lower your voice; for the harshest of sounds without doubt is the braying of the ass.”
“O believers, forbid not such good things as God has permitted you; and transgress not; God loves not transgressors.”
“Thus have We made of you(Note:you,Muslims) a medium/justly balanced/middle/intermediate/central nation, that you might be witnesses over the nations. ”
Here are the 2 Cases where Allah contradicts himself, commits excess,no moderation,no Golden Mean
1.Allah felt hatred toward Christians for X reason and decided to curse them all “till the Day of Resurrection“.
2.Where is the moderation in that? Why curse a group for generation after generation?
“And with those who say:
1.“We are Christians” We took compact; and they have forgotten a portion of that they were reminded of.
2.So We(Note:Allah) have stirred up among them enmity and hatred, till the Day of Resurrection; and God will assuredly tell them of the things they wrought.”
1.Some Jews of Muhammad’s time said that Allah was powerless, impotent,”his hand was shackled/fettered/chained“.
2.So Allah felt hatred and cursed them all “till the Day of Resurrection“.Where is the Golden Mean and moderation there?
“They (Note:the Jews) have said, “God’s hand is fettered/chained.” Fettered are their hands, and they are cursed for what they have said. No, but His hands are outspread; He expends how He will. And what has been sent down to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in insolence and unbelief;
and We(Note:Allah) have cast between them enmity and hatred, till the Day of Resurrection. As often as they light a fire for war, God will extinguish it. They hasten about the earth, to do corruption there; and God loves not the workers of corruption.”
